The school was founded in 1915, then known as Agincourt Continuation School, and later become Agincourt Collegiate Institute in 1957. It is said to be oldest academic institution in Scarborough.

For the school year 2013 to 2014, Agincourt Collegiate Institute features immersion and extended French programs. Together with this, the learning institution also offers a full-spectrum of performance based and award winning music programs. In this school, students earn a total of 900 music credits a year. Various options are available; the student can join the jazz band, perform the wind ensembles and strings as well as join the choir and the madrigal singers.
The music students of Agincourt are recognized for winning numerous Music Festivals including the highly acclaimed Kiwanis.
The school also provides to its students sufficient attention in learning French language and related studies. To complete the package, the academy also offers course dedicated for the environment. It centers on the problem about global warming, depleted rainforest, species extinction and shortage of water – and find resolutions to address such things.
The school believes in sense of commitment. Thus, Agincourt Collegiate Institute develops a program known as the Peer Helping Credit course and Peer Tutoring Program. In these activities, senior students extend themselves and serve as peer helpers to those students in the junior year. Through this practice, a sense of family and belonging is fostered.
