Trendy, chic boutiques and eateries are established in the neighbourhood while it still maintains the atmosphere of an old, small town. The old family mansions evoke a sense of luxurious history, while newer town homes and business establishments add vibrancy and life to the area. The area also features mature trees and lush landscapes that have been well preserved over the years, even with all of the new development here, and the area still gives you a sense of laid back living.

Schools and Educational Facilities

Mimico is close to different schools and educational facilities. The library is just at the 47 Station Road where hundreds of resources are available for studying. George R. Gauld Junior School and High Park Centennial Montessori School aren’t too far either.

Corktown

There are tons of new developments happening in Corktown at the moment, and with these there are sure to be plenty of new businesses popping up all over. Currently, one of the region’s hotspots is The Distillery District, with art galleries, great restaurants and bars, boutiques and bars.

Shopping and Dining

Corktown is never behind in offering sumptuous meals for its residents. Sukho Thai is famous for its comfortable ambiance and savoury Thailand dishes. For sweet treats, Soma Chocolate in The Distillery District is amazing. It has a family-friendly atmosphere where different chocolates, ice creams, coffees and desserts are available. Just the same, be sure to taste the coffee at Balzac’s Coffee Roastery.

For recreational pleasures, there are different shops to find. The 290 ION is a boutique that carries many Canadian designers. The Angst Salon is loved by the residents as it offers excellent service for beauty and pampering. For home design, the Even & Odd has the best offers.

Schools and Educational Facilities

This neighbourhood is home to Inglenook Community High School, an alternative school that offers a high-class educational facility. St. Paul Catholic School is also nearby. It is one of the oldest schools in Corktown.

There is a lot going on in the next few years at Yonge and Eglinton. The intersection is undergoing a major facelift – particularly with the Yonge and Eglinton Centre. Plenty of new mall, retail and office space is being integrated and added on – and an addition called “The Cube”, 40,000 sq. metres of new space. The area is currently seeing a lot of condo development as well – providing more residential options for more people to enjoy the park space, great restaurants and nightlife of this well-known enclave.

Shopping and Dining

The 7 Numbers restaurant is famous for its authentic Italian cuisine, as is Grazie and La Vecchia. Everyone loves to visit this lovely place so be sure to reserve a slot. For Japanese palate, the Ajimi Sushi is delicious.

No one will never get bored at Yonge and Elington. The SilverCity Yonge-Elington Cinema is just right around the corner. For retail therapy, visit the Yonge Eglington Centre. It is a four-level shopping area where 75 stores are established.

Schools and Educational Facilities

North Toronto Collegiate Institute is just nearby. Also are the Northern Secondary and Forest Hill Collegiate Institute. For private schools, the TCDSB, Marshall McLuhan Secondary Catholic School and St. Monica Catholic Elementary School are within the neighbourhood.
