condo small Torontos Condo Units Are Getting Even Smaller! Condo units are getting smaller and smaller by the year, a fact that has raised some concerns amongst real estate enthusiasts and homebuyers in Toronto. On average, condo units have shrunk 6% to 820 sqft over the units built last year. That’s 52 sqft smaller than the average in 2010. Even Paul Golini, chairman of BILD (Building Industry and Land Development Association) wonders whether we’ve reached a limit: “there are only so many bedrooms you can fit into 500 square feet.” he says.

Why are builders making smaller units these days? well with over 13,000 units on the market, and rising prices, builders have opted to make smaller units to keep them affordable. Many of the builders are banking on the down-sizers and young businessmen to occupy these units, but are they pushing the envelope a little? When it comes to Toronto condos how small is too small?
