6 tips for Creating a Dynamic Kitchen
Kitchen design has come a very long way! The value of your home can be determined by the quality and design of kitchen you have. There are so many levels of upgrades and design elements that can be considered based on your project, your budget, your space etc. etc.
Here are 6 tips out of MANY out there, which you should consider if you are planning a change in your kitchen design.
1. Open Shelving: Be liberated from doors and allow your kitchen to be the utilitarian workhorse it is meant to be.

consider open shelving, it gives you the convenience of a commercial kitchen's easy access to tools. The trick to keeping it neat is to keep your plates and other tools in the same finish.. for instance all white plates and cups and all stainless mixing bowls etc.
2. Make your kitchen a Multi-functional room…you will appreciate the quick switch when your kitchen can go from food prep to lounging to homework, to party gathering.

Make your kitchen 'multi-functional'...consider comfortable upholstered chairs at your island or breakfast table for lounging.
3. Unique finishes and designs: Plumbing Fixture suppliers are presenting many choices for functional items like faucets and sinks.

For a Contemporary kitchen, this high guage stainless sink from Blanco can set the scene. Square edges and sharp lines give it the clean look.

Along with the sink, your faucet is a hardworking product in your kitchen...spend as much as you can and have the design say something in order to have that dynamic touch.

Perhaps you are aiming for a Rustic Tuscany look....your sink is used everyday...do not miss the opportunity to make a statement, or use it as a jumping off point for your design plan.

Faucets are available in various finishes...Oil Rubbed Bronze is a great option for that 'something different'.
4. Lighting is the only way to completely affect and change the mood in a space…Dimmers, incandescent, LED, Low Voltage…get the right advice..do not skimp on this portion of the design plan , it can make or break the final result.

Juno Lighting has created a very svelte led under-cabinet light fixture...amazing for mood, task and ambiance.

This is the winner of 'best use of light' in British Columbia "LasScala". Without light, we see nothing...this was one of my first lessons in University .
5. Mix and Match materials : Mirror, Stainless, Bamboo, Cork, Wood, Butcher-block, Ceramic, Glass……..

Consider a mirror back-splash...trust me, it is a fabulous touch. I have it in my kitchen and it give such a sense of space and light...I love it...and NO , it is not hard to maintain ( this is coming from a neat-freak)
6. Dark finishes always add a dose of Sophistication, Surprise and Drama…the kitchen above and below illustrate this very well. Black is not just for Dresses!

This Kitchen was created by my Friends at Rocpal..Don't be afraid of Dark..it has built in Drama which is undeniable to anyone who walks in.
I hope I have planted a seed in your brain to consider new ideas for your next design project.
